Frequently Asked Questions
Equipment & Technical
What specific gear is in the booth?
The booth is equipped with a flagship club setup: 2x Pioneer CDJ-3000 Multi-players and 1x Pioneer DJM-A9 Mixer. Sound is delivered through professional-grade monitors to ensure acoustic accuracy. Is the gear Rekordbox compatible?
Yes. The CDJ-3000s are fully compatible with Rekordbox-formatted USBs. We recommend analyzing your tracks in Rekordbox beforehand to ensure all cues, loops, and waveforms load instantly. Can I connect my laptop?
Absolutely. You can connect via HID mode or use the DJM-A9 as an interface. Please ensure you have the necessary drivers installed on your laptop before your session starts.Do I need to bring my own headphones?
Yes, for hygiene and comfort reasons, we ask all DJs to bring their own headphones. The mixer supports both 1/4 inch and 3.5mm (mini-jack) connections. (we have headphones for sale or hire if needed )
Booking & Logistics
Can I record my practice session?
Yes! You can record directly to a secondary USB drive via the mixer’s Master Rec out, or connect your laptop/phone via the DJM-REC app. This is highly recommended for reviewing your transitions later. Can I bring a friend or a “B2B” partner?
Yes. The $100/hr rate is for the room, not per person. Whether you are practicing solo or doing a back-to-back session with a friend, the price remains the same.Is there a minimum or maximum booking time?
Bookings are made in 1-hour increments. We find most DJs prefer 2-hour sessions to really “get in the zone,” but 1-hour slots are available for quick set preparation. What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling to receive a full credit for your session.
The Studio Environment
Is there Wi-Fi available?
Yes, we provide high-speed Wi-Fi so you can access Beatport Streaming, Tidal, or download a last-minute track if needed. Is the studio air-conditioned?
Yes. Practice sessions can get high-energy, so we keep the booth climate-controlled for your comfort.
The Pioneer CDJ-3000 and DJM-A9 represent the current “industry standard” for high-end club booths and festival stages. Together, they form an ecosystem designed for stability, high-fidelity sound, and creative flexibility.
CDJ-3000 Professional Multi-Player
The CDJ-3000 is the first in the line to be powered by an MPU (Micro-Processing Unit), which significantly improves track loading times and overall system stability compared to previous generations.
9-inch HD Touchscreen: A larger, higher-resolution screen that supports touch-previews (listening to a track by touching the waveform without loading it) and “stacked” waveforms when linked to other players.
Key Sync & Key Shift: Automatically matches the musical key of the incoming track to the one currently playing, or allows for manual pitch shifting via the touchscreen.
Redesigned Jog Wheel: The internal mechanism has been overhauled to be smoother and quieter, with reduced touch latency. It also features a 6-inch center LCD showing track artwork and playhead position.
Eight Hot Cue Buttons: Repositioned horizontally under the screen for better ergonomics, away from the jog wheel to prevent accidental triggers.
Audio Quality: Uses a 96 kHz/32-bit internal processor and an Asahi Kasei DAC for a cleaner, more expansive soundstage.
DJM-A9 4-Channel Professional Mixer
The DJM-A9 is the successor to the ubiquitous DJM-900NXS2, offering substantial upgrades in audio fidelity and connectivity.
Next-Generation Sound: Equipped with ESS Technology 32-bit A/D and D/A converters across the inputs and outputs, providing a warmer, more detailed “club” sound.
Center Lock Feature: A world-first for Sound Color FX—when activated, the knob stops turning at the 12 o’clock center position, ensuring you don’t accidentally sweep too far into the opposite frequency filter during a live set.
Enhanced Connectivity:
Dual USB Systems: Features both USB-B and USB-C ports for two separate laptops, allowing for seamless back-to-back transitions.
Bluetooth Input: You can route audio from a mobile device directly to any of the four channels.
Wi-Fi / Stagehand App: Allows front-of-house teams to monitor mixer levels and statuses remotely via iPad.
Improved Mic Section: Includes phantom power for condenser microphones and three dedicated mic effects (Echo, Pitch, Megaphone) plus a separate reverb.
Dual Headphone Outputs: Two independent sets of headphone jacks with their own cue/volume controls, enabling two DJs to monitor different channels simultaneously.
Pro DJ Link Integration
When these units are connected via a LAN cable (Pro DJ Link), they function as a unified system:
Waveform Sync: View the master player’s waveform on any linked CDJ-3000 for precise beat-matching.
Beat FX Quantize: The DJM-A9 pulls BPM data directly from the CDJ-3000s, ensuring that effects like Echo or Flanger are perfectly gridded to the music.
On-Air Mode: The jog wheel rings on the CDJ-3000 turn red when the corresponding channel fader on the DJM-A9 is raised, providing a clear visual cue of which deck is live.
